Bonehead Ruck Weight Plate Review (22)
What’s a Ruck Weight? It’s a weight you put in a backpack – it turns a walk into a real workout because your upper body will get into the game. It’s tougher than you might think – if you go for distance.

Thanks to the handles, you can use them in other ways too (like as a pseudo-kettlebell.)

Let’s review these ruck weight plates…

Bonehead Ruck Weight Plates Review

First of all, understand these are iron plates.

Folks – this isn’t complicated. These are weights. That fit in a backpack – unlike a dumbbell or a Oly plate which WILL NOT fit in a backpack. Any questions?

The weights are close to what’s advertised – so that’s pretty straight-forward.

If you are an adult male – you are probably gonna want to go with a 30lb weight, and maybe a 10lb weight so you can amp up the intensity.

A quality ruck like the GORUCK Rucker 3 has TWO plate pockets. This means you can use multiple plates – and keep them from making noise!

If you do want to use TWO of them at once, make sure there is no metal to metal contact – or everyone is going to hear your plates clanking from a mile away.

How do these compare to the official GORUCK Ruck Plates?

They are cheaper, and they are sized like the ORIGINAL (now called GR1) Ruck Plates – meaning they are TALL.

Bonehead Ruck Weight Plate Review (45)
The Bonehead weights are approximately the same HEIGHT as the ORIGINAL GORUCK Ruck Plates – which are now called GR1 plates.

They fit just fine in a GORUCK Rucker 3 or GR1.

They DO NOT fit in the Ruck Plate Carrier – that is meant only for the new style (formerly “Expert”) GORUCK Ruck Plates.

That’s a GORUCK Ruck Plate (new-style) on the left. It short and squat. Formerly these were called Expert plates.
Bonehead Ruck Weight Plate Review (54)
This is a GORUCK Ruck Plate Carrier. The Bonehead plates DO NOT fit here – it’s Expert plate sized. No matter, a backpack is better anyways. Where are you going to put your compass/multi-tool/hydration/snacks/extra socks/etc?

Overall, these get the job done as a backpack weight.

The handles are ergonomic too – you could use these as a sort of Kettlebell or Dumbbell – at least for some exercises.

Note that the top handle is more roomy than the lower (chin on the skull) handle.

These shouldn’t arrive damaged, they are taped up sufficiently to survive the apocalypse.

Overall – these are a good option.

Bonehead Ruck Weight Plate Review (27)
These get the job done – and they look good doing it.

Bonehead Ruck Weight Plates Review – In Summary

That’s our review of the Bonehead Ruck Weight Plates from Fringe Sport.

They look cool – and they get the job done. They fit in a GR1 or Rucker, but they don’t fit in the GORUCK Ruck Plate Carrier.

They should fit in just about any regular backpack though.

The handles make them versatile – and they are a fun way to spice up your training.

Now that you’ve got the ruck weights, get a rucksack to put them in.

We recommend either the GORUCK Rucker 3 or the GR1.
